June 24, 2012 – Working Structure Fire (Madeline’s Restaurant)

June 24, 2012 –  At 23:28 Fire Districts 56,42,and 47 were dispatched to 1100 E. Market Street, Owrigsburg for an AFA (Madeline’s Restaurant). EMS was the first to arrive on scene and reported heavy fire showing from the A/D Corner on the first and second floor. SCCC quickly upgraded the call to a Working Structure Fire adding Pottsville RIT and Ladder 725 from the borough. Upon arrival Chief 56 (Hardinger) immediately requested a Tanker Task Force which brought tankers in from Auburn, New Ringgold, Freidensburg, Summit Station and all of Haven Station 4.  Crews from Tanker 738 utilized the Dump Tank and began to set up a Water Supply. Ladder 725 was positioned on side A of the structure and began roof ventilation procedures. An aggressive initial attack was made by crews from 56,42,and 47 knocking down the bulk of the fire.  Crews from E-737, S-739, and later T-738 sent their manpower to the front of the structure to set up a man pool. Fire Personnel searched for extension and conducted overhaul operations. All SHFD units were on scene for approximately 5 hours. Photo via John Desjardine
