Fire District 63

November 17, 2010 – Working Commercial Fire (Jem Contracting Warehouse)

November 17, 2010 – At 23:22 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched to 63 West Williams Street in the borough for a commercial fire. Crews quickly arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the side A (front) of the structure.  Chief 722 (Sattizahn) immediately requested a 2nd alarm as crews began to arrive on scene.E – 732 was first on scene and hooked a hydrant at the intersection of Williams and Saint John Streets.  The crew pulled a 2 1/2 handline and a back up 1 3/4 line and made entry to the structure.Ladder 725 arrived next and began to setup aerial operations on Side A (front) of the structure.E-737 was the first unit to arrive from Station 4 and laid 5inch from a hydrant located at the intersection of Parkway Avenue and Williams Street. E-737 then fed Ladder 725  with a 5 inch supply line and other units at the scene as the water supply became established.Crews from Station 4 made entry on side C of the structure and began to attach the fire with a 2 1/2 hand line. Manpower from Wagon 736 and Squad 739 were sent to Side A to assist Station 2 with an interior attack. Firefighters were then forced out of the building due to the deteriorating conditions and heavy fire load forcing all to operations to become defensive.Chief 722 (Sattizahn) requested a total of 2 commercial alarms and 3rd TTF  (Tanker Task Force) alarm through out the night.
